AHP Education Workforce Capability and Career Framework

Not yet rated

The AHP Education Workforce Framework, developed by the Council of Deans of Health (CoDH) in partnership with NHS England (formally Health Education England (HEE)), aims to ensure the sustainability of the Allied Health Professional (AHP) workforce by defining the roles and capabilities of AHP educators. It emphasizes the importance of education as one of the four pillars of professional practice, alongside practice, leadership, and research.

The framework provides a clear career pathway for AHP educators, outlining expectations, competencies, and training across various career stages. It aims to make AHP education more inclusive, effective, and sustainable, ensuring AHPs provide safe and high-quality care. The development involved input from various stakeholders, including AHPs, educators, and students, and draws on best practices from other healthcare professions.

By setting clear standards for AHP education, the framework aims to meet the growing demand for AHPs and address the shortage of qualified educators, ensuring a well-prepared workforce to support healthcare delivery in the future.
