Transfer to Bereavement Suite
Certificate available: complete this course to be awarded a certificate
Welcome to your interactive virtual realitysimulation training. Providing end of life care to infants and their families is complex and is emotive for all involved - including perinatal healthcareprofessionals. These simulation modules aim to provide you with a safe space to explore and consider different aspects of this unique type of care with the aim to improve the care we all provide to families. The scenarios have been developed in collaboration with parents who have experienced the death of their baby. The scenarios contain highly emotional topics and conversations and can be difficult viewing. We encourage you to engage with this content at your own pace.
This scenario covers the logistic, communication and human factors issues which need to be considered when transferring a baby from a clinical area to a more private room for end of life care. This private space may be a separate room within the neonatal unit, a parent bedroom or a dedicated bereavement suite if available. The priniciples for the move are transferable regardless of the specific location to baby is moving to.
This simulation will contain a real-time scenario withinteractive questions and learning points as you progress. There will be a debrief at the end of each scenario. You can view thesimulationeither on a computer, handheld device or smart phone. Please follow the instructions on the navigation page.
We hope you find the sessionuseful.
