Enhanced Health in Care Homes Mobility and Falls (Downloadable version)
Falls are a major cause of disability, loss of independence and loss of life in older people and can be caused by many things including weakness, poor balance, medication side-effects, common symptoms of dementia and disability and/or pain due to deformity or injury.
Often falls can be avoided by recognising when something isn’t right with a person you care for.
In this scenario we will meet Jean Rigby. Jean is 85 years old and diagnosed with dementia and has a deformity of the spine.
