active bystander masterclass 1 (Improver)
We are working in partnership across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) Integrated Care System (ICS) and NHS England’s Civility and Respect Programme Team, to establish an Active Bystander Programme.
We were excited to launch our Active Bystander Programme at LLR Academy's 'Lead, Connect and Care' Festival in June 2022 and Prof Catherine Sanderson kindly kick-started us with this insightful masterclass on 'Understanding and Developing Moral Courage' as a foundation to our programme of turning learning into action.
Our Active Bystander Programme is an innovative programme that will support health and social care colleagues to become active bystanders who feel confident to take an early intervention approach to prevent negative behaviours from escalating. This will contribute to improving the health and wellbeing our staff and patients and people who draw on our support to grow a culture of civility and respect where we can all thrive and be our best selves.
The LLR Active Bystander Programme aims to:
- Establish a pro-active system culture approach to address harmful behaviours
- Promote a compassionate and inclusive leadership culture
- Adopt an early intervention approach which can prevent negative behaviours from escalating, and facilitate learning
- Enhance the health and wellbeing our staff and people who draw on our support At the heart of our work is creating a sense of belonging for people where everyone feels valued and respected.
