NHSE TEL Support: Handling medicines safely for social care staff - Module 1: Introduction
This module's content is based on:
- NICE Guidance: Managing medicines for adults receiving social care in the community [NG67] and Managing medicines in care homes [SC1]
- CQC Information for Providers: Adult Social Care, Guidance on care standards.
Module 1: Introduction will look at
- legislation and guidance which underpins the management of medicines in care settings
- why your organisation’s medicines policy is important
- the importance of keeping accurate records - your responsibilities when supporting people with their medicines
- the importance of training and competency in medicines management.
Throughout this training 'patient' means patients (which could be adults or children), their carers and/or family members, residents (e.g. of a care home), or service users.
