British Geriatrics Society: Free membership for Foundation Trainee Pharmacists

The British Geriatrics Society (BGS) is the association for professionals working in the healthcare of older people across the UK, and the only society in the UK offering expertise in the health care of older people, and providing a national voice for specialists working in this field. BGS membership is multidisciplinary including consultant geriatricians, nurses, GPs, old age psychiatrists, allied healthcare professionals, pharmacistsand researchers. Everyone specialising in the healthcare of older people is welcome to join.

  • Foundation Year Pharmacists can join here: Become a Member | British Geriatrics Society
  • For profession, foundation trianee pharmacists should select "Preceptorship Year for AHP/nurse" and enter "Foundation Year Pharmacist" in Job Title, whilst the BGS are awaiting updates to be made to the website. Once updated they should select "Preceptorship Year for AHP/Nurse/Pharmacist"

Once a member, there is access to the Pharmacy Professionals Special Interest Group (SIG) which aims to support pharmacy professionals delivering healthcare to older adults whilst showcasing the role of pharmacists in practice and policy development.
