CHS: Blood Transfusion

This course is aimed at unregistered staff working at Croydon Health Services, who may be involved in the care of a patients who may need, is in the process of having, or has recently had a blood transfusion. This includes a background of blood components and when they may be needed, management of patients who decline blood transfusion, taking group and save samples, caring for a patient with an ongoing transfusion and managing emergencies associated with transfusion. It aims to provide the knowledge and skills to understand possible problems that can arise from blood transfusion, and when to escalate them appropriately.
