AHP Workforce Toolkit

Resource: Digital and data skills programme

Not yet rated

Overview
The NHS England Digital Academy launched a free, fully funded programme for all Allied Health Professionals (AHPs)—including students and support workers—to build digital and data skills. Accessible online, it supports flexible, self-paced learning.

Purpose
Addresses the digital literacy gap in healthcare, enabling AHPs to confidently use technology, improve service delivery, and lead digital transformation. Poor digital skills have been linked to workforce attrition; this initiative aims to reverse that trend.

Design & Delivery

  • Modular, bite-sized learning with interactive content, case studies, and reflective exercises.
  • Developed collaboratively by CSP, Keele University, EL Healthcare Education, and other AHP bodies.
  • Tailored for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners.

Learning Objectives

  • Build foundational digital and data capabilities.
  • Apply digital tools for clinical practice, service improvement, and leadership.
  • Understand data-driven decision-making and digital health systems.

Impact
Empowers AHPs to articulate service value through data, align with NHS priorities for prevention and community care, and strengthen representation in digital health leadership.
