Caring for the Diabetic Foot - Core - CDEP

According to Diabetes UK, 184 people per week in the UK undergo a diabetes-related limb amputation. People with amputations are 80% more likely to die in the next 5 years. With the correct daily foot care, regular foot screening and risk assessment, as well as rapid referral of any issues to multidisciplinary team (MDT) foot clinics, many of these amputations may be prevented or delayed. This short topic has been designed to support care home, hospice, mental health and prison staff support people with diabetes undertake a daily foot care routine and be vigilant for signs of a serious diabetic foot problem arising.
