Physical Activity in Adults with Type 1 Diabetes - Intermediate - CDEP
Being active promotes physical and emotional well-being, however, people living with type 1 diabetes might be worried about exercising, doing sport or even just being active due to the fear of having a hypo. This topic aims to support healthcare staff provide safe advice to people with type 1 diabetes by: Being aware of the benefits of physical activity and encouraging people to become more active within their ability. Being able to explain the impact different activities have on glucose levels in people with type 1 diabetes Raising the awareness of what changes may be required to insulin, diet and glucose monitoring regimens. Being able to guide people on when activity should be avoided and what action can be taken to prevent activity-related hypoglycaemia.
