Case Study: Deteriorating Patient
This case study covers the development of a dynamic learning environment to support staff training of Deteriorating Patients.
The objectives of the course are:
- Gain knowledge of a patient and key information about them, including diagnosis, medications and any relevant history
- Identify where to find key information for deteriorating patient from patient records system
- Review News 2 chart to identify trends that informs decision making.
- Identify action to be taken when patient becomes aggressive or is in seclusion, including non-contact observations where appropriate
- Make appropriate decisions about the deteriorating patient and document them clearly
