Case report session 3: Endocrinology Cushing's Disease
The third case report session explores the complex case of a 3-year-old girl with signs of Cushing's syndrome, including rapid weight gain, hirsutism, central obesity, and hypertension. Investigations showed elevated cortisol and ACTH levels, abnormal suppression/stimulation tests, and inconclusive imaging. Despite no clear adenoma, the pituitary gland was removed, followed by gormone replacement. After initial improvement, the disease replapsed and eventually lead to bilateral adrenalectomy. The case highlights the challenges in diagnosing and managaing cyclical Cushing's disease in children
