Thalassaemia: A guide for schools and educators

Thalassaemia: A Guide for Schools and Educators is an educational resource developed by NHS England to raise awareness among education professionals about thalassaemia and how best to support children and young people affected by the condition throughout their educational journey.

The course was developed under the clinical leadership of Dr Layan Allawi, Haemoglobinopathy Clinical Fellow for NHS England, in collaboration with the Thalassaemia Working Group for Schools. The working group brought together students living with thalassaemia, parents and carers, healthcare professionals, and educators to ensure that the resource reflects both lived experience and professional expertise, with a focus on the needs of children and young people in educational settings.
