The Law in Respect of Mental (In)Capacity in a Pre-Hospital Setting Involving the Ambulance Service - What Do I Need to Know? - MHASE Conference (video)
Doug and Matt will help guide us through the relevant legislation around mental health and mental capacity. By applying their knowledge to the pre-hospital setting, they will use real scenarios to highlight the challenges, duties and powers of ambulance service staff when responding to patients experiencing a mental health crisis. They will explore legal options and guide us through the roles and responsibilities of other agencies, such as Crisis Services, AMHPs and Police, exploring how we can work together to promote the needs of the patient and avoid unnecessary admission to Emergency Departments.
