Transfusion Safety - Doctors
Transfusion of blood, whilst relatively safe in the UK, is not without risk.
The most common preventable risk relates to errors in identifying patients correctly.
Donated blood is a gift to us and we must use it appropriately. Each unit costs £120, but after lab costs and clinical time, giving a unit costs about £300.
