Aims:
In this e-learning module,Understanding Tourette syndrome for GPs, you will learn what Tourette syndrome is, the symptoms of the condition, co-occurring features and differences that accompany it, differential diagnosis and support and specialist input.This course is aimed primarily towards GPs.
Objectives:
At the end of the course, the learner should know:
- What Tourette syndrome is, the prevalence of Tourette syndrome, and misconceptions that surround it and other tic disorders.
- The symptoms of Tourette syndrome, what motor and vocal tics are andhow these are defined into simple and complex categories, what coprophenomena is and what repetition and hidden tics are.
- The co-occurring features and differences that can also accompany Tourette syndromeand how these affect individuals.
- What impact Tourette syndromehas on individuals from a physical and emotional perspective.
- Details of the support available for people with Tourette syndrome, their families and friends, and anyone supporting them.
Description:
This course will take between 30 and 45 minutes to complete and issplit into 20 lessons. On completion, the learner will have a thorough knowledge of the condition, making them feel more confident when dealing with cases in surgery.
