Insulin is a dangerous drug that can be harmful, and can even cause someone's death, if it is used incorrectly. Insulin errors can lead to hypoglycaemia (low glucose levels) or hyperglycaemia (high glucose levels) which can result in: - an increased length of hospital stay, - poor patient treatment satisfaction, - reduced confidence in hospital care, - an increased risk of infections and further complications, - and in extreme cases, even death. This essential training supports all levels of health and social care staff working in a hospital inpatient ward setting.
