Clinical Significance of Blood Group Antibodies
This document outlines current knowledge on the clinical significance of blood group alloantibodies. Its prime purpose is to enable clinical decisions to be made regarding the management and blood transfusion support of patients with blood group antibodies that are not commonly encountered and for which antigen-negative blood may not be available in the routine stock. The overall aim is to ensure that a uniform RCI Clinical Policy for the supply of blood for transfusion is implemented throughout NHSBT.
