Improving PPI Prescribing practices in line with ESC guidelines for patients with ACS on DAPT protocol promoting Patient Safety

Not yet rated

European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines recommend prescribing proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) in patients treated with DAPT, to mitigate their risk of bleeding complications. Prescribing PPIs in patients diagnosed with ACS on DAPT is strongly recommended by ESC. We have noted that it is not uncommon for PPIs to be missed and not prescribed in such circumstances. Leaving PPIs out of the treatment regimen in ACS on DAPT can increase risk of bleeding and increase risk of noncompliance to critical medications for the heart due to side-effects.
