Learning at Your Own Pace and Time: Establishing a Regional Haematology Virtual Learning Space to Equalise Training Opportunities
This poster describes a regional haematology virtual learning space on the PGVLE, open to trainees, SAS and locally employed doctors across the East of England. It aims to give doctors in district general hospitals the same access to specialty teaching as those at tertiary centres. Teaching follows a weekly timetable: morphology, transfusion, and malignant/general haematology. Sessions are hybrid and recorded where possible, so learners can attend live or catch up later.
The page also offers interactive courses on blood film reporting and SACT, curated videos, and a fortnightly Case of the Week. From December 2025 to July 2026, we delivered 42 hybrid sessions and recorded 29. Sessions were rated 4.0–4.9 out of 5. Benefits for learners: Equal access to teaching, whatever your grade or site.
Flexible learning around clinical work
Self-paced courses and case-based practice
A model other regions can adapt
