Learning and Development SharePoint Subsite to enhance learning and professional development

Not yet rated

Introduction
Digital innovation is a cornerstone of the NHS Long Term Plan, not only in transforming patient care, but in reshaping how education is delivered across the healthcare system. To support this vision, we developed a digitally accessible SharePoint subsite designed to empower staff and educators with the tools, guidance, and resources needed to create, access, and engage with educational activities that drive system-wide improvement.

Methods
An in-depth review of existing educational resources was undertaken, informed by challenges encountered during a research project exploring asynchronous and synchronous learning. Barriers ranged from logistical issues such as booking seminar rooms and navigating branding requirements, to uncertainty around points of contact for support. In response, a prototype SharePoint subsite was co-developed by the author and the Imaging SharePoint Administrator, and piloted with a cross section of staff (both clinical and non-clinical) to assess accessibility, relevance, and usability.

Results
Pilot feedback was both constructive and transformative. Clerical staff highlighted that the original “CPD” branding felt exclusive, as their roles do not typically involve CPD in its traditional form. In response, the subsite was rebranded as “Learning and Development” to reflect a broader, more inclusive scope. This change was well received and helped foster greater engagement across staff groups.

Conclusion
Although still in its prototype phase, the subsite has been positively received and is evolving into a centralised, intuitive hub for educational engagement....
