Intercultural Awareness Course For midwives, health visitors and school nurses working with children, young people and families seeking asylum or with refugee status
Being more culturally aware helps you to work with people from all cultures and backgrounds. This free CPD-accredited course is designed to support Midwives, Health Visitors and School Nurses in embedding intercultural awareness into practice and focuses on supporting children, young people and families seeking asylum or with refugee status.
It may also be helpful for other groups of professionals and the learnings may be helpful for working with other population groups.
It is designed to help practitioners:
- Embed intercultural awareness and trauma-informed care into daily practice
- Deliver culturally appropriate, compassionate support for children, young people and families seeking asylum or with refugee status
- Understand roles and responsibilities across health and safeguarding pathways
- Recognise vicarious trauma, prevent burnout and look after their own wellbeing
We have also developed a Guide which could support people taking this online course to embed their learnings by revisiting the core concepts and thinking through how to apply them into practice.
