4.5 out of 5 (2 ratings)

With new initiatives enabling delegation of the administration of insulin in community settings, it is important that staff receive training and support to ensure that their knowledge and skills are sound, and to enable safe practice.

This elearning is aimed at Health and Care Assistants / Support Workers / Other Non-Regulated health and care roles and Allied Health Professionals who will be assuming delegated responsibility for administering insulin via Pen.

Completion of the elearning (including a printed certificate) is an essential requirement for staff wishing to assume delegated responsibility. It forms the first part of training - and should be undertaken prior to staff undertaking supervised practice with a Registered Nurse / Registered Practitioner, to establish competency.

The elearning is also of interest for Registered Nurses / Registered Practitioners who will be delegating responsibilities.

The elearning has been developed for NHS England and Improvement by TREND-UK, a working group of diabetes nurses with different skills and background, and then reviewed by an Expert working group of clinicians, professional bodies and academics. It has also been informed by the learning from eight exemplar sites around England. See more information at: https://future.nhs.uk/Insulin/groupHome.
