Tendon vs Nerve Histology Made Simple with the Ramen Noodle Sign (of Fulton) (video)
Got wavy pink spindle cells? It's more likely tendon, fascia, or ligament (dense regular connective tissue) rather than nerve. Everyone teaches that nerve and neural lesions are wavy, but I think that the most wavy spindle cells are actually fibroblasts and myofibroblasts. My former fellow, Dr. Ed Fulton, said tendon/fascia reminds him of instant Ramen noodles. So I have dubbed this the "Ramen noodles sign of Fulton" in his honor!
