Student live stream placement experience - Orthopaedic surgery

This casestudy explains how live stream technology was used to support multi-professional student education.

The Placement, Expansion, Technology, augmented, Reality (PETaR) project has participation from four trusts across the North East.

The objectives are to use Augmented/assisted Reality (AR/aR) headsets in a variety of placement settings across medical, surgical and community settings, supporting key aspects such as:

•Student placements, particularly the recovery of students affected by COVID

•Encouraging interprofessional working

•Enhancing aspects of care

•Following patient’s journeys

•Minimising exposure to nosocomial infection and optimising the use of PPE

This case study demonstrates how anOrthopaedicprocedure was live streamed and embedded into a multi-professional student learning environment.
