Understanding Tourette Syndrome

Aims:

In this Tourettes Action e-learning module,Understanding Tourette Syndrome, you will learn what Tourette Syndrome is, co-occurring features and differences that accompany it, how it affects an individual and what can be done to help and understand.

Objectives:

At the end of the course, the learner should know:

• What Tourette Syndrome is, the prevalence of Tourette's, misconceptions that surround it and other tic disorders.
• The symptoms of TS, what are motor and vocal tics, how these are defined into simple and complex categories, what is the coprophenomena and what are repetition and hidden tics.
• The co-occurring features and differences that can also accompany TS and how these affect the individual.
• What Impact TS has on an individual from a physical and emotional level.
• Details of the support available for people with TS, their families and friends and anyone supporting them.

Description:

A lot of what we know about Tourette's is what we have seen in the media but in fact, in reality, TS presents very differently. This course will take between 45 minutes and 1 hour to complete and will dispel lots of the myths that surrounds Tourette’s and show the true reality of the condition and how it affects those living with it.
