This resource provides health and social care workers who support austitic people and people with a learning disability and forensic needs with an overview of essential knowledge.  Chapters include topics on communication, managing forensic risk in multi agency teams, working with autistic people at risk of committing crimes, positive behaviour support, assessing risk, medication, psychological interventions and maximising support in the community. 

The publication was commissioned by Health Education England, Midlands & East of England regions. It was developed by Warwick university who worked with health and care practitioners and and experts with lived experience to co-produce it.  It features the thoughts and voices of experts with lived experience throughout each of the chapters.

 

Additional information

This resource is aimed at health and social care practitioners that work with autistic people and people with a learning disability with forensic needs. It gives an overview of essential knowledge for new and experienced practitioners.
