This course aims to assist healthcare professionals in exploring and assessing symptoms possibly indicative of a potential brain tumour, and increase confidence in clinical decision-making regarding referral on a suspected cancer pathway. It covers background anatomy, presenting symptoms, concerning headache features, primary care investigations, and the NICE referral guidelines, and utilises patient cases, discussions with specialists, and interactive elements to help facilitate learning.

On completion of this course you will:

  1. Recognise and explore different ways in which brain tumours can present in adults and children
  2. Develop your ability to assess a headache
  3. Consider the concept of ‘Headache Plus’
  4. Confidently assess the need for referral in accordance with NICE NG12 guidelines
