Radiation Safety for Staff

Fluoroscopy (Screening)

Certificate available: complete this course to be awarded a certificate

4 out of 5 (1 rating)

This session covers the basics of safe use of x-ray equipment for fluoroscopy (screening) and applies to such work in both theatres and specialist x-ray rooms. There is an additional session concerning specific issues relating to interventional techniques (including cardiac catheter insertion and pacing). It does not cover the use of mobile x-ray equipment for taking films, although the rules and what you have to do are much the same. It also does not cover any use of radioactive material in theatres. If you are required to work in such situations, you will receive specific training. This session was reviewed by Susan Doshi and updated in November 2020.
