Expanded human blastocyst at 113 hours post insemination.

The inner cell mass can be seen at the 3 o'clock position. This will develop into the foetus.

Thetrophectoderm can be seen as flattened cells immediately under the zona pellucida. The zona thins asthe blastocoel cavity expands until eventually there is a break, known as a breach in the zona.The embryo then expands out of the zona - a process called hatching.
