Recipient and Living Donor Coordinator Training

Communicating Donor Information

Not yet rated

This module is part of the The Recipient and Living Donor Coordinator training programme, which provides essential knowledge for NHS staff involved in the organ donation process.

It focuses on the critical process of sharing clinical information throughout the organ donation pathway. You'll explore the various stages where new clinical information may emerge, from initial donor characterisation through to post-transplantation discoveries. Understanding these communication pathways and the roles of different healthcare professionals is crucial for maintaining patient safety and ensuring successful transplant outcomes.

At the end of this module, you should be able to:

  • Describe how TransplantPath supports the organ donation process and facilitates information sharing.

  • Explain the purpose and timing of the Medical and Social History (MaSH) questionnaire in the donation process.

  • Explain the different stages where new clinical information may emerge during the donation process.

  • Analyse the importance of timely information sharing between SNODs, Hub Operations, and transplant centres and its impact on recipient safety.

This module will take approximately 25 minutes to complete.
