Background

In March 2020, the UK’s first COVID-19 lockdown brought all educationalactivities to a halt, significantly affecting medical training. Teachingprogrammes, essential and mandatory for doctors in training, were abruptlydisrupted. At the time, Mr Ahmed, Training Programme Director for Core SurgicalTraining (CST) in the West Midlands, played a key role in addressing this gap. With video conferencing gaining popularity, there was a clear need for aplatform to log attendance, share resources, and deliver teaching.Solution:Mr Ahmed led the trial and launch of a Moodle-based platform for 120 CSTdoctors. Due to its effectiveness and flexibility, the platform quicklyexpanded to support the entire School of Surgery (SoS) in the WestMidlands.
