This elearning session is designed for healthcare professionals involved in the administration of intravenous (IV) medicines. It explores the complexities and risks associated with IV therapy and equips learners to mitigate these through informed decision-making, critical thinking and adherence to professional standards. By the end of the session, learners will be able to understand the legal and professional frameworks surrounding IV therapy, recognise common prescribing and medication errors including those caused by cognitive bias and systemic factors, and apply strategies to escalate concerns and ensure safe practice.
