Not yet rated

Knowledge is one of the 3 key components, alongside motivation and behavioural skills, that support people to look after their own health, prevent or manage illness and maintain a good quality of life. This topic aims to: 1) Raise the awareness of the importance of people living with diabetes attending structured diabetes education. 2) Encourage healthcare staff to support people living with diabetes to attend suitable diabetes education. 3) Promote accurate documentation of the diabetes education referral as well as attendance. 4) Reinforce that education is a ongoing, lifelong process that needs to be included in each health contact. TOPIC TIPS... You do not have to complete the topic in one go... CDEP is designed to be done in 'bite-sized chunks' fitting into your busy life! This topic, on average, takes 35 - 60 minutes to complete depending on your chosen CDEP level - although this may differ from person to person. There are a number of sections (competencies) within this topic, each with its own set of resources that may be useful to review should you require further support. However, undertaking the section itself is part of the learning process and will confirm or improve your current level of knowledge around that specific section, so why not jump straight in and have a go... This topic was developed together with a expert panel supported by the Health Innovation Network South London.
