GP Resident Doctor Mental Health Placement Tool
This is an online directory of mental health and psychological therapy services across North West England that are available to ‘host’ a GP Resident Doctors for a short period of time/ invite them for a learning visit.
The aim of this is to help GP Resident Doctors make links with local mental health services (both NHS and third sector), to help with their learning about mental health and understanding what support is available within the local community
This is only intended to be a short placement, making use of study leave as for no longer than half a day or a full day. It is suggested that this time is best co-ordinated when there is a team meeting or when practitioners may be in the office. Joining a virtual meeting is a consideration. The placement is light touch and may take the format of a general observation session or shadowing opportunity. It is expected that the Trainee Resident Doctor to reflect on their learning and add an entry in their portfolio in line with RCGP curriculum.
