About

The Inclusive Training within Practice project offers learning resources to support inclusive practice in healthcare and in education with specific focus on healthcare practice education for Nursing, Midwifery and AHP.  This multi-system multidisciplinary project is funded by NHS England South West and led by University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE).

These resources address the root cause of racism and discrimination with the aim of improving the experiences and outcomes of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic learners and internationally educated staff in healthcare. Resources are appropriate for a range of audiences across Higher Education Institutions (HEI), Further Education Colleges (FE) and healthcare including the whole workforce, specific roles and practice education. This multi-pronged approach is necessary to achieve systemic culture and behaviour change.

This project is a continuation of a previous Health Education England funded project on Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Student Support in Practice Project and incorporates insights from a recent Bournemouth University research project as well as the Too Hot to Handle Report.

Resources are designed with extensive research, insights and collaboration and are complementary. There are common golden threads and key themes running through all resources which deliver against existing national and local strategies and policies.

Regional collaboration with HEIs, FE Colleges and healthcare placement providers together with support from specialist learning designers with subject matter expertise, a regional stakeholder reference group and a diverse staff and student feedback panel have all contributed to the resource design.

Further information about the project and how to navigate resources is available in the folder titled ‘Background and how to use resources'.
