Managing Respiratory Diseases: an eLearning Series by FPM
This eLearning series developed by Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FPM) has been designed to mitigate unresolved issues and gaps in knowledge related to the management and care of key viral respiratory diseases. There is a national focus on health inequalities in respiratory care, as outlined in the NHS Long Term Plan and the Core20PLUS5 approaches for all age groups, and viral respiratory diseases are a large factor in winter pressures faced by the NHS. High quality education for health and care professionals is emphasised in this national focus, and this series reflects that. The series is aimed at healthcare professionals in the UK, including general practitioners (GPs), specialist doctors (especially those working in intensive care medicine, geriatric medicine, oncology etc.), and nurses, drawing upon key Government, NHS, and NICE guidance. Developed my subject matter experts in the field, the series includes information on burden of diseases, diagnosis, treatment options and eligibility, and management pathways, relevant for a variety of patients and settings. The modules include the use of case studies and a host of interactive features including Q&A, click and select, pop-ups, “drag and drop” exercises and others, as well as links to external and downloadable resources. By the end of this series, learners will feel more confident in identifying signs and symptoms for key respiratory diseases, improved their understanding of treatments and therapies and the correct application of these, and feel better prepared to manage winter pressures and identify high risk patients.
