CLEAR (Clinically Led workforcE and Activity Redesign) is a workforce transformation programme, designed by NHS clinicians, which places healthcare professionals' workers at the heart of decision making and innovation. By integrating learning with live redesign work, those taking part can develop new skills in data science, transformation and leadership, while delivering recommendations of new models of care and workforce to healthcare services. You can find out more about the full 24-week programme and other course options on the CLEAR website.

We have developed a short taster course, with online examples, to give you a flavour of what CLEAR is about and an understanding of the unique methodology which is being used in NHS organisations across England.

A taste of CLEAR

Work through the CLEAR methodology at Goodcare NHS Foundation Trust, where you’ll understand our 4 key phases to redesign work:??

Clinical engagement: in-depth qualitative analysis of observation, interview, and focus group data from frontline staff?

Data interrogation: cohort analysis using local and site specific clinical and workforce data visualisation and analysis?

Innovation: development of innovative solutions that address the main challenges identified through triangulation of qualitative and quantitative data??

Recommendations: formulation of new models of care, ‘quick wins’, the potential impact and how to communicate these back to key stakeholders

The 4 phases are laid out through a case study example in the 5 videos in ‘A taste of CLEAR’ The first of which introduces the site and the team structure required to complete a CLEAR project.
