Delirium (sometimes called 'acute confusional state') is a clinical syndrome characterised by disturbance attention, awareness and cognition Delirium has an acute onset and fluctuating course. It is a serious condition that is associated with poorer clinical outcomes including death. Delirium can be prevented and treated if it is detected and managed.

Health Education England in the north east and north Cumbria in partnership with Tees Esk and Wear Valleys have worked together in delivering educational events to raise awareness of delirium among healthcare professionals, including those working in the acute and care home settings. A number of educational resources have been developed and are available in this catalogue.

We have also tried to compile good quality information that is already available on the web  including resources on how to manage Delirium and patients with COVID-19.

We acknowledge and thank all the organisations and authors of the publication
