NHSE Content development and delivery programme

The NHSE Content Development and Delivery Programme is made up of two elearning sessions. These sessions share best practice to help people create clear, engaging and high-quality elearning for the NHS.

Who the programme is for

  • Session 1 is for anyone who writes elearning content.
  • Session 2 is for people who build elearning, including external contributors, Trust teams and Royal Medical Colleges.

What the programme covers

Across the two sessions, learners are guided through:

  • How to write content that is clear, engaging and right for NHS learners
  • How to plan a session and submit structured content
  • The steps in the content development and review process
  • What is needed for strong storyboards and content plans
  • Legal requirements for using images, graphics and other assets
  • What to think about when building an elearning session for the NHS Learning Hub

Session 1 – NHSE elearning author guide

This session helps authors understand how to write good elearning that is easy to read and supports learning.
Learning objectives:
By the end of this session, learners will be able to:

  • Explain what to think about when writing NHSE elearning content
  • Create a clear session plan
  • Submit structured content with clear learning outcomes
  • Describe their role in the full development process

Session 2 – Developing elearning for the NHS Learning Hub

This session supports people who build elearning and ensures new sessions meet NHS quality standards.
Learning objectives:
By the end of this session, learners will be able to:

  • Describe the recommended content development and review process
  • Check content against NHS standards
  • Explain what should guide storyboards and content plans
  • List legal requirements for creating and using assets
  • Describe what to consider when building an elearning session

The programme is open to everyone and helps ensure all NHS Learning Hub resources meet NHS Digital Service Content Guide standards.
