Enhanced Health in Care Homes VR Programme
The Enhanced Health in Care Homes VR programme is made up of 8 elearning sessions. These sessions help people who work in care homes understand key health needs of residents and learn when to get extra help from NHS services. Each session includes a 360-degree virtual reality (VR) video showing real-life situations in a care home.

- Health and care staff who support residents in care homes
- NHS teams working with care homes as part of a multidisciplinary team
What the programme covers
The programme follows the 7 priority areas in the Enhanced Health in Care Homes Framework and includes:
- Introduction
- Personalised care
- Eating and drinking
- Wound care
- Mouth care
- Mobility and falls
- Dementia and communication
- End of life and pain
Each session shows how care home staff, NHS teams and families can work together to give residents safe, kind and proactive care.
Learning objectives
By completing this programme, learners will:
- Understand common health needs of people living in care homes
- Recognise early signs that a resident may be unwell
- Know when and how to seek help from the NHS
- Learn about tools used in care homes, such as remote monitoring
- Understand how different professionals work together as a multidisciplinary team
- Build confidence in providing personalised, proactive care
