Neonatal Virtual Reality Simulation Scenarios

This catalogue contains virtual reality neonatal simulation scenarios for neonatal and paediatric healthcare professionals. The scenarios cover a range of key neonatal topics and skills with a focus on clinical management, communication with parents and human factors skills. There are eight scenarios which have been split into two main topic themes: 1. Neonatal Emergencies and 2. Neonatal End of Life Care. The neonatal emergency scenarios cover full resuscitation at birth, difficult airway situation, care of the preterm infant at birth and pneumothorax on NICU. The neonatal end of life care scenarios cover an unexpected death in the delivery room scenario, as well as scenarios covering reorientation of care, compassionate extubation and a bereavement follow-up appointment. Our team have designed these scenarios for neonatal and paediatric multidisciplinary professionals with experience working within a neonatal unit. However, the scenarios are likely to also be beneficial to members of the wider perinatal team (such as midwives or obstetric staff) and medical students with an interest in neonates.
