Education and Career Guide - Nursing in Social Care

In 2020, during the pandemic a small group of professionals from across Health and Care in the North West identified a potential opportunity which would help raise the profile for anyone seeking employment as a Nurse in Social Care. Colleagues came together and formed a task and finish group developing a vision to educate and promote the career opportunities to any individual wishing to progress a career in social care as a registered nurse.

As a result, the group have developed a comprehensive and unique education and career guide designed to inspire anyone who is interested about becoming a registered nurse in social care. Accompanying the guide is a slimline digital e-book which contains interactive links and digital content which can be used in more informal settings or for a younger audience.
Included within the guides is an overview of what social care is, what it means to work in social care, funding opportunities as well as detailed career pathways which provide a route into becoming a nurse in social care. The guide was developed by Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Partnership in collaboration with Health Education England, Greater Manchester Training Hub, Skills for Care, University of Manchester, WEA Adult Learning and Lancashire & South Cumbria Health & Social Care Partnership.
