Transnasal endoscopy
This is programme consists of 6 elearning sessions discussing the transnasal endoscopy (TNE) procedure.
Included:
- Session 1 describes the evidence base and advantages of TNE.
- Session 2 explains which patients are suitable for TNE, potential complications and how to prepare a patient for the procedure.
- Session 3 describes the equipment needed for a TNE and provides technical as well as non-technical tips on how to perform the procedure.
- Session 4 describes the anatomy of the nasal passages and the upper parts of the aerodigestive tract. It highlights common pathologies that may be encountered when passing through the nasal passages, and when you should refer a patient for an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist opinion.
- Session 5 describes the risk of epistaxis during a TNE procedure, steps you can take to minimise risk and how to manage epistaxis if it occurs.
- Session 6 describes how incorporating TNE into clinical practice can provide a cost-effective and efficient way to improve diagnostic provision.
