350 Wound Management Theory

The Aim of this package is to develop the practitioner's knowledge and skills in the assessment of wounds, in line with the requirements of their post, and to equip them to deliver safe and effective care to patients with wounds.

There will be a brief overview of:
The anatomy and physiology of the skin
Stages of wound healing
Factors affecting wound healing
Wound assessment and classification
Wound management techniques
Functions of an ideal dressing
Dressing categories
Be able to identify both classic and additional signs of infection significance in clinical practice.
Have an awareness of national guidance in relation to wound infection
Be able to utilise available resources in clinical decision making around the identification and management of wound infection.
