Confirming alignment
The Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) provides a summary of the core subjects that have been considered statutory and mandatory training. It is important because it sets out the combined guidance from a number of national bodies; to provide a singular summary and it sets out the minimum standards to underpin portability and reduce the need for staff to repeat training when they move between NHS organisations.
The CSTF sets out the following;
- the subjects
- the reference legal, regulatory and policy guidance
- the minimum learning outcomes
- who needs to complete the training
- refresher frequency
- training delivery methods
As stated in 2024/25 priorities and operational planning guidance, NHS organisations in England have been directed to align to the latest version of the Core Skills Training Framework (v1.1 pdf) by the end of June 2024.
