Optimise

All providers are asked to take the following actions to reduce the unnecessary burden on staff and standardise the training delivered, as far as is possible, across the NHS in England:

1. By end of June 2024 – all NHS providers are required to align to the latest version of the Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF).

  • Any additional content that local subject matter experts may wish to deliver must be carefully considered against the investment of staff time
  • Providers will be required to confirm alignment via the Learning Hub

2. By end of October 2024  – all NHS providers are required to adopt the NHS England eLearning for Healthcare (elfh) packages. The content is curated to meet the national standards and is quality assured and update by NHS England.  These are free to all the NHS organisations in England and hosted on the NHS Learning Hub. The national content eliminates the need for expensive development of local content and by default ensures you are aligned to the current and any future Statutory and Mandatory Training (StatMand) Frameworks.

3. Sign up to an interim staff movement MOUs -  A template MOU has been drafted which will shortly be made available via NHS England’s regional teams.  This arrangement will be superseded by the registration documentation that forms part of the digital staff passport.

4. Roll out the digital staff passport (when available) – the digital staff passport is currently in beta testing with the first NHS organisations, and subject to successful piloting, will be rolled out rapidly in waves.  It is important that all NHS providers are ready to utilise this new digital service,  this involves completed the readiness assessment tool. More information on the Digital Staff passport can be found at Future NHS Workspace.
