Learner Support in Practice

Resources in this folder are appropriate for academic education institutions, healthcare placement providers and healthcare learners. It includes:

1) Inclusive practice training slides for Practice Educator Training (placement providers) and Academic in Practice Training (academic education providers).

2) Learner Support in Practice Guidance with best practice examples aligned to NHS Safe Learning Environment Charter and the EDI Golden thread (coming soon).

The guidance outlines key areas for improvement in practice education and highlights examples of good practice that promote a positive safety culture and foster continuous learning across all NHS learning environments, with a specific focus on equality, diversity, and inclusion.

3) Inclusive learning resources for healthcare learners as part of 'preparation for practice' .

We encourage educators and practitioners to review the ITP 'Inclusive Teaching and Practice Guidance,' which complements and enhances the use of these resources.

All resources incorporate the Inclusive Training within Practice Project’s two golden threads and three key themes:

Golden Threads: 1) Critical Race Theory 2) Avoiding the Deficit Model

Key Themes: 1) Racial Literacy 2) Power Dynamics 3) Reflective and Reflexive Practice

Regional collaboration on Learner Support in Practice, aimed at exploring shared challenges and opportunities, was led by Rohit Sagoo as part of the ITP project. The ITP project team developed a range of resources, shaped by insights and feedback from healthcare placement providers and academic education institutions across the South West.
